We're in the Final 2!
20/2/12: All roads lead to Whyteleafe's Church Road ground on Sunday 22nd April as we'll have teams involved in two Tandridge Finals. Congratulations to our Under 17 Youths who have won through to the Shield Final, where they'll face Eversley Rangers, just after our Under 14s take on Seymour Villa in their League Cup Final.
Well done to both teams - should be a great day all round!

Up for the Cup!
6/2/12: Two of our teams are chasing Cup glory later this month, as our Under 17 Youths face Oxted & District in a Tandridge Shield Semi-Final, on 19th February and the Under 11 Elites take on Sutton United in the Surrey Cup Quarter Finals, on 12th February. Meanwhile our title chasing Under 14s have already booked their place in the League Cup Final, to be played in April. Good luck to all our teams!
Commiserations, however, to our Under 17 A team who missed out in their League Cup Semi-Final, going down 1-0 to Croydon Juniors.

Double Delight for the Under 12's
15/5/11: Many congratulations to our Under 12's, who followed up their recent Trophy win by securing the Runners Up position in the South Division following a thumping 8-0 win against Tonbridge Angels at John Fisher. Well done to Nick, Michael and the Boys on a successful season which saw the team top 100 goals for the season, as well as, of course, pick up their first piece of silverware.
|
Oops, I did it again!
12/5/11: Time for your faithful reporter to go back to school, I think! Hot on the heels of getting the Under 16 Champions and Runners Up all done and dusted a week ahead of schedule (and then of course getting them wrong!), I've now totally missed the amazing achievement of our Under 9 A's, who not only won their game last Sunday, but secured at least a share of 2nd place in the B Division. Well done to the boys and their manager, Jim Weeks, and apologies for the oversight.
Right, just the Under 12's left to go - 1 game at home this Sunday and 1 point needed for 2nd place to go with your nice shiny Trophy! Come on Lads - Up the Hamsey!
|
We thought it was all over!
10/5/11: We reported last week that the Under 16 B's had clinched the B Division title - well obviously our District team had other ideas, as they put together a 4-0 win against Hampton & Richmond to steal not only promotion but the title on the last day of the season. Well done to them, and of course to the B's for making it such a great season for our teams at Under 16 level.
Elsewhere, the Under 12's followed up their Trophy win last Sunday with a thumping 6-2 win against rivals Glebe Tigers, to put them firmly in the driving seat for promotion from the South Division with a game to play, next Sunday against Tonbridge at John Fisher. Also on the promotion trail, the Under 9 A's finished their season with a 4-1 win against West Wickham. They now have to wait on Glebe Tigers' (yes, them again!) next results to know if they've clinched the Runners Up spot in the B Division.
Finally, it's "well done" to the Under 13's, who clinched the Runners Up spot in the A Division with a 1-0 win against Junior Bromleians.
|
Just a Perfect Day!
1/5/11: A historic day for 3 of our teams. Our Under 12's won their first every Final, beating Junior Bromleians 2-1 in the Tandridge Trophy Final at Whyteleafe. Many congratulations to the boys and their coaches Nick Tagg and Michael Trayfoot, who will now be looking to follow this up with promotion from the South Division, where they're currently sitting 3rd with 2 games to play. Match report
Speaking of promotion, it's a double "well done" to our Under 16 B and District teams, who both secured promotion from the B Division after crucial wins. The B's beat title challengers South Bank 3-1 at John Fisher to secure not only promotion but the Divisional Title and District won 1-0 away to Chipstead to go ahead of South Bank on the head to head rule. South Bank have now finished and so with one game to play District can relax, knowing that 2nd place is assured. Well done to both teams and their managers Martin Tomlin and Andy Walker!

Colts win the latest Hamsey Classico!
18/4/11: While a certain high profile series of derbies kicked off in Spain this weekend, our Under 16's have been playing out their own mini-series over the course of this season. The latest was a 3-2 win for the Colts over District team on Sunday which, when coupled with the Under 16 B team's 5-3 win at West Wickham, was enough to knock the District boys off the top of the table. The B's and the District team are both looking good for promotion, though.
Elsewhere, our Seniors both shared the spoils in their double headers, which looked to have knocked both out of contention for promotion. AFC (1-0 and 0-4 against Surrey Saints) are still in with a shout of promotion, but games in hand for other teams look like denying them, while AFC A finished their season with creditable 0-1 and 3-1 results against likely champions Lower Kingswood to finish their inaugural season an agonising 1 point outside the top 2. Well done to both of them - better luck to all our senior teams next season.
Our Under 12's warmed up for their Trophy Final after Easter with a cracking 7-1 win away to Westerham to move into 2nd place in the South Division with 2 games to play, while our other promotion chasers, the Under 9 A's, bounced back from last week's defeat with a 2-0 win against Orpington Rovers - they are now 2nd in the B Division but need to win their last game and hope nearest challengers Glebe slip up against champions Coney Hall.
So, plenty still to play for as we reach the final weeks of the season...

Sunday Round Up
11/4/11: While a number of clubs have already shut up shop for the season, our teams continue to battle for silverware - and this week was no exception.
Our Seniors had mixed fortunes, with AFC losing their top of the table clash, 4-2 against Horley Crickets, and AFC A drawing 4-4 against Smallfield. Both teams remain in the promotion shake-ups, although the A's end their season next Sunday with a double header against rivals Lower Kingswood which will go a long way to deciding their fate - Good Luck Lads!
In the Tandridge League, the day's honours went to the Under 12's who won both legs of a double header against JDG Athletic (3-1 and 2-0) to remain very much in the promotion hunt and keep the pressure on Glebe Tigers in second place in the South Division. The Under 16 District team went back to the top of the B Division, as they won their game in hand over the B's, 4-0 against West Wickham. Elsewhere there were surprise defeats for the Under 9 A's and the Under 13's, although both still have Runners Up spots in their own hands.

Sunday Round Up
5/4/11: Some excellent results for our teams last Sunday, not least of which was the Under 13s' 3-2 win against A Division Champions and League Cup Finalists Waterloo, to end their 100% league record. Mick Leech's boys now look a good bet for the Runners Up spot, which would be a real achievement in their first season of A Division football. Our Under 12 Trophy Finalists also had a good home win, 4-0 against Otford, to keep the pressure up at the top of the South Division, while the fight for Hamsey supremacy at the top of the Under 16 B Division looks like going down to the wire, as both our B and District sides won their games to remain 1st and 2nd respectively - the B's won 3-1 against Axten and the District team beat Elite 3-0.
In the Seniors we had a double win against Grange Park as AFC beat their A team 6-3 away and the AFC A's won 3-2 at home to the Reserves. Both our teams are right there in the promotion shake ups, with just a few weeks to go to the end of the season.

Sunday Round Up
27/3/11: It's been another exciting weekend as we reach the business end of the season. Our senior AFC A team are hot on the heels of the promotion chasers in the Redhill and District Division 5, after a thumping 4-0 home win against 2nd place Reigate Priory. A double header against Lower Kingswood on 17th April could well decide which of the two teams wins promotion.
Meanwhile, in the Tandridge League the Under 16 B's hit the top of the B Division after a 3-1 home win against Elite, replacing our District team whose game was called off - let's hope both teams stay in the top 2 to make it a double celebration at the end of the season. Mick Leech's Under 13's drew 3-3 in their A Division battle against Runners-up rivals Seymour Villa to stay 2 points ahead with a better head to head record, while the Under 9 A's celebrated a 4-2 win at Wandle Wanderers, leaving them possibly 3 wins from promotion. However, our Under 12 Trophy Finalists lost 3-2 to league leaders Chipstead, to remain in 3rd place in the South Divison - their game against fellow promotion chasers Glebe Tigers before the end of the season should go a long way to deciding their fate.
It's all getting very tense, but Good Luck to all our teams from now on in...

Sunday Round Up
20/3/11: Several of our teams picked up important points in their challenges for divisional honours this weekend. The AFC A seniors won 3-2 at home to Caterham Pumas and are well placed in the hunt for promotion from Division 5 with 5 games to go, while our Under 12 Trophy Finalists made sure they're keeping their eye on the ball with a superb 5-1 home win against Wickham Wanderers. Meanwhile, the Under 16 B's drew 2-2 at home to Chipstead to close the gap on our District side at the top of the table to just 1 point - what an exciting end to the season is in store the Under 16's have in store in the B Division!
On the down side, the AFC senior team lost 3-2 to Mid Day Sun to lose a little ground in the title race in Division 2 and the Under 9 Harriers lost 2-1 to Glebe Tigers, but they do remain in 2nd place in the B Division with 4 games to play. Commiserations also to the Under 13's, who lost their replayed Cup Semi Final 4-2 against Surf.

Champion Superstars!
13/3/11: Congratulations to our Under 10 Superstars, who clinched the South Division title with a nerve-wracking 1-0 home win against nearest challengers Tonbridge. Well done to everyone involved with the team.
Elsewhere, AFC won a massive top of the table clash 3-2 against Woodcote Rovers to keep up their title challenge in Division 2 of the Redhill Sunday League. There were also excellent wins for our Under 16 B's (7-3 against Chipstead), Under 12's (5-0 against Ex-Blues) and Under 9's (3-2 against Westerham) to keep them all in the promotion hunt in their respective divisions. We've also got the AFC A, Under 16 District and Under 13 teams challenging for honours so the season looks like it's building up to an exciting end to the season!

28/2/11: Congratulations to our Under 12s, who won a rain swept Trophy Semi-Final 2-1 away to JDG on Sunday. Despite surrendering home advantage, Nick and Michael's boys fully deserved their win to set up a 1st May Final date with Junior Bromleians at Whyteleafe FC. Well done lads!

Sunday Round-up
25/5/10: Congratulations to Mike and Trevor's Under 15A's, who, despite relinquishing their League crown, have been confirmed as Runners-up in the A Division. Outgoing Under 18's won their final home game 3-1 against Chislehurst Arrows, while current Young Guns the Under 12's finished their season with an 11 match unbeaten run following a 2-2 draw away to Southwark Caribb.
|
Sunday Round-up
17/5/10: Congratulations go to Mick Leech's Under 12's who wrapped up the C Division title with a convincing 9-0 home win against Croydon Youth on Sunday, to follow up their victory in the Tandridge Shield Final last month. Just as impressive was an excellent 2-1 win for our Under 11's against divisional champions and previously unbeaten Purley Panthers. A strong second half of the season saw them finish in 3rd place, so boding well for next season - no pressure lads!
Congratulations, meanwhile to our Under 16 A's for at least a share of second place in the A Division, following their excellent run to the League Cup Final.
